I can’t find the “2-1352 Other Payroll Liabilities” account in MYOB when working on payroll deductions. Can I use a different one?

(For: MYOB Business Essentials Payroll – Deductions Exercise)

If you're completing the “Working with Pay Items – Deductions” exercise and don’t see 2-1352 Other Payroll Liabilities in your chart of accounts, it’s because this account hasn’t been created yet. As part of the earlier setup task (“Setting Up the Category in the Chart of Accounts”), you’re required to manually add it before proceeding with deductions.

To create the account:

  • Go to Accounting > Chart of Accounts (Categories)
  • Click Create Category
  • Enter the following details:
    • Category Type: Detail
    • Type: Other Current Liability
    • Parent Header: Liabilities
    • Code: 2-1352
    • Name: Other Payroll Liabilities
    • GST Code: N-T (Not Reportable)
  • Click Save

Once created, this account will appear in the list, and you’ll be able to link it to the appropriate deduction item.

Rest assured, while 2-2501 Other Payroll Liabilities may look similar, using 2-1352 keeps your setup consistent with the course materials and will not interfere with MYOB’s functionality.

If you're still having trouble locating the Chart of Accounts or saving the entry, feel free to contact our Support Team — we’ll be happy to assist.
