Accessing MedTech

Getting Started with MedTech Software

As part of your Medical Reception course, you have access to an optional module that introduces you to MedTech, one of the most widely used practice management systems in New Zealand and Australia. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with software you may encounter in real medical centres.

You will be guided through the system using a training manual, which allows you to learn at your own pace. This hands-on experience can help you feel more confident using MedTech in a real healthcare environment.

Step 1: Accessing the MedTech Link

To get started, go to the ADMG109/509 – Introduction to MedTech section in your course. There, you will find a link that opens the MedTech training system. It should look like this:

After clicking the link, you may see one of the following screens. This is completely normal:

Step 2: Entering Your Login Details

Next, you will be asked to enter a username and password. These login details can be found in the Accessing MedTech Software instructions provided in your course.

Your username will be one of the following:

  • mctau\TrainUser1
  • mctau\TrainUser2

Once you have entered these, you will move on to the next step.

Step 3: Opening the Remote Desktop

You will now see a Remote Desktop Connection window open. This acts like accessing a separate computer that has the MedTech software installed.

Step 4: Launching MedTech

On the desktop, you will see an icon labelled MedTech Evolution. Double-click this to launch the software.

You will then be prompted to enter a second set of login details—this includes a username, password, and database name, which are also provided in your course.

Step 5: Ready to Begin

After logging in successfully, you will be inside the MedTech software. From here, you can begin working through the training manual and exploring the system at your own pace. This is your chance to build familiarity and confidence with the software – so take your time and enjoy the learning process!
