# Payment Suspension, Financial Hardship vs Course Extension

**Can I put my course on hold if I’m experiencing financial hardship?**

If you are experiencing financial hardship (for example, due to job loss or a change in circumstances), your **payments may be reviewed**, but this is **not the same as a course extension**.

Financial Hardship related requests are managed separately on a case by case basis. **Can I defer or suspend my course payments?**

Payment deferrals or suspensions are assessed **case by case**.[mailto:support@thecareeracademy.com](mailto:support@thecareeracademy.com)

When contacting the Cancellations team, include:

- Your full name
- Student ID (if available)
- A brief explanation of your situation

The Cancellations team will review your request and advise you on available options.

**Is a payment suspension the same as a course extension?**

No. These are two separate options.

**Payment suspension or review**

- Relates only to your payment plan

**Course extension**

- Provides additional time to complete your course
- Usually involves an extension fee
- Does not pause or defer payments

**Can I stop payments by requesting a course extension?**

No. A course extension does not suspend or pause payments.  
Payments continue unless the Payments team approves a separate arrangement.
