Event Management - After the Event

As part of your After the Event course, you will explore what takes place following an event, including how to measure success, handle complaints, and conduct evaluations.

Assessment Task

In Question 4 of your Event Management Part Two assessment, you are required to write a detailed report evaluating an event. This may be based on a real event you have organised or participated in, or you can create a realistic fictitious example if needed.

How to Approach It

  1. Choose an Event to Evaluate
  • Select a real or fictional event (e.g., a business conference, community function, promotional event, or celebration).
  • Make sure you can describe the purpose, location, and timeline of the event.

  1. Key Points to Consider When Writing Your Event Evaluation Report
  • Think about what information a reader would need to understand the type of event, where and when it was held, and why it took place.
  • Consider all the main tasks required to bring the event together. Reflect on the areas of planning and coordination that were essential to the event’s overall execution.
  • Think about how each task was carried out. Were some aspects more successful than others? Focus on how things went and what stood out in terms of performance.
  • Identify any difficulties or unexpected situations. Consider how these were managed, what responses were put in place, and whether they worked well.

Pro Tips

  • Be Objective – Try to evaluate the event from a neutral point of view. Focus on what actually happened, not just what was planned.
  • Use Real Examples – Refer to specific tasks or incidents from the event to support your evaluation. This adds credibility and depth to your report.
  • Keep It Balanced – Recognise both strengths and areas for improvement in your evaluation.
