Which Level Is My Course or Program / Programme?
At The Career Academy, all of our staff-developed courses and programs/programmes are aligned to clearly defined learning levels. These levels help students understand the depth of study, expected prior knowledge, and outcomes of their chosen course.
Our course levels are consistent across all subject areas and programmes.
The Career Academy Course Levels
- TCA Level 3 – Introductory Level
- TCA Level 4 – Certificate Level
- TCA Level 6 – Diploma Level
Each level reflects the complexity of the content, the learning outcomes, and the level of skill application expected from students.
TCA Level 3 | Introductory Level
TCA Level 3 courses are designed as an entry point into a new area of study. They are ideal for students with little or no prior knowledge who want to build a strong foundation.
Study Level
Content is pitched at a level similar to senior high school learning (Years 12–13). Concepts are introduced step by step, making the material accessible and easy to follow.
What Students Will Gain
- A solid foundation of knowledge and skills in their chosen field
- Confidence to apply learning to simple tasks and processes
- Preparation for further study at higher levels (Certificate or Diploma)
Previous Knowledge or Experience
- Not required
- All learning materials start from the basics
TCA Level 4 | Certificate Level
TCA Level 4 courses build on foundation-level knowledge and focus on developing practical, job-ready skills.
Study Level
Content is comparable to introductory undergraduate university study, similar to what might be covered in a short university certificate course.
What Students Will Gain
- Intermediate-level technical knowledge and practical skills
- The ability to apply learning to more advanced tasks and real-world scenarios
- Improved employment opportunities through applicable job skills
- Demonstrated competence through a range of assessments
Previous Knowledge or Experience
- Minimal prior knowledge required
- Advantageous if students have:
- Completed a TCA Level 3 / introductory course, or

- Gained relevant practical experience
TCA Level 6 | Diploma Level
TCA Level 6 courses represent an advanced level of study and are designed for students who want to develop in-depth expertise and strong problem-solving abilities.
Study Level
Learning is at a level similar to a one-year university diploma, requiring deeper understanding and advanced application of skills.
What Students Will Gain
- Advanced technical knowledge across a broad range of topics
- The ability to apply skills to complex and varied situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Enhanced career outcomes and pathways (e.g. Accounting Technician roles)
